Anna Tran
Assistant Director of Student Retention

Anna Tran is the Assistant Director of Student Retention for Seattle Promise, a nationally recognized college access and success program serving Seattle, Washington public high school graduates. In her role, she co-leads a team of equity-focused, student-centered retention specialists and office assistants to increase the retention and success rates of recent Seattle high school graduates. The Promise program supports students with funding, pathway planning, and individualized assistance navigating the college journey.
Tran leads equity-driven retention strategies that center student agency, belonging and systemic repair, ensuring student success is measured not only by completion but also by voice and community. Their approach is grounded in justice and critical hope leadership, shaped by their lived experience as a neurodivergent Vietnamese woman, daughter of refugees, former transfer student and first-generation college graduate who forged a nontraditional education path. Their intersecting identities ground their commitment to accessibility and designing transparent systems. She champions initiatives that affirm linguistic diversity, embed trauma-informed care, and create spaces of solidarity with a focus in mentoring LGBTQIA+, women of color, and STEM areas of study.
Tran brings extensive experience in student services, program development, and cross-campus collaboration and will hold a Master of Education in Critical Educational Change and Leadership from the University of Washington in June 2026. She envisions retention as activated justice through one policy, one partnership, and one student story at a time.
