Guests

Guests are welcome to attend the ceremony. Seattle Colleges does not use a ticketing system for guests. There is no limit on the number of guests a graduate may invite.

Guests and graduates may enter together.

**SPECIAL NOTICE: Seattle will host six FIFA World Cup 2026 matches at Lumen Field from June 15 through July 6, with some practices at UW Seattle. These matches are expected to bring many additional visitors into our region and create significant traffic and transit impacts across the greater Seattle area that may also affect our graduates and families the day of commencement. Please plan accordingly and allow extra time for traveling.

Seating

  • Seating for guests is available on the top row of the concourse.
  • A designated reduced distraction/quiet zone for guests is located in room 145. Please see an attendant or usher for assistance. 

Ceremony

  • Captions will be displayed on the screens.
  • ASL interpreters will be displayed on the screens.

Parking

  • Accessible parking at Alaska Arena is available with a state-issued disability permit. Visit the UW Athletics Parking webpage for more information. 

Other

  • All restrooms are ADA accessible.
  • Service animals are welcome.

Transportation/Parking

The UW Athletics Parking page shows the places to park at or near Alaska Airlines Arena. 

We are encouraging attendees to take the Sound Transit Link Light Rail (UW Station) for convenient access to Alaska Arena. The UW light rail station is just one block south of Alaska Airlines Arena.

Facilities and Bag Policy

  • Alaska Airlines Arena requires everyone to go through security and metal detectors before entering the stadium.
  • Please review the UW Clear Bag Policy for a full list of prohibited items. Balloons are not allowed in the Arena.
  • Any non-compliant bags must be checked at the UW Bag Check for a $15 fee at the Husky Bag Check in the lobby of Marv Harshman Court, just off the North Courtyard of Alaska Airline Arena. Balloons may also be checked for $5 per bundle.

  • Refreshments will be available for purchase at concession stands.
  • Gender-neutral restrooms are available.
  • The quiet lounge is located in room 145.

The commencement ceremony is a dignified academic event that recognizes the achievements of graduates and honorees. By participating, you agree to observe the following guidelines:

  • Silence all cell phones and devices.
  • Keep aisles clear.
  • Refrain from blocking anyone’s view of the stage.
  • Graduates are required to return to their seats after they receive their degrees and remain until the recessional. Please plan accordingly.
  • No alcohol or smoking.

For those unable to attend commencement in person, SCCTV will livestream the ceremony on Thursday, June 18, 2026, starting at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. PDT at www.seattlecolleges.tv. Following the ceremony, SCCTV will post the video for on-demand viewing.
