Faculty and Staff

All Seattle Colleges faculty and staff are invited to participate in the ceremony either as members of the procession wearing academic regalia or as volunteers helping to direct students and guests throughout the day.

Volunteers Schedule

If you are volunteering to assist with commencement, the schedule below outlines the events of the day. You may volunteer for the whole day or parts of the day, whatever fits your schedule best. More details coming soon.

Faculty and staff should plan to change into their regalia before the ceremony in the Founder's Lounge, the designated robing room and preparation space. Line-up for the procession begins 30 minutes before each ceremony at 2:30 and 6:30 p.m. 

Faculty and staff who plan to participate in the processional and who need to order rental regalia should complete the online order formby Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 1 p.m.  The form is linked on the Faculty and Staff Regalia webpage.
 

Rented Regalia

Any rental gowns and regalia items that were ordered by the May deadline will be available prior to the ceremony in the designated robing area. Check in at the Founder's Club lounge, and you will be directed to the robing area. 

After the ceremony, please fold and place your regalia items in the plastic bag provided and return it to one of the volunteer staff in the robing area. Please make sure all items are returned in the bag.
 

Bring Your Own Regalia

Faculty and staff are welcome to bring their own gowns and regalia to participate in the processional. Feel free to bring your regalia to the designated robing area.

Note: If you plan to bring your own regalia, you should enter Alaska Airlines Arena via the loading dock entrance on the north side of the building off Snohomish Lane N. (refer to the map below). Those who use the main entrances are subject to the UW Clear Bag Policy and a security check. If you enter through the loading dock, you will be able to carry in your regalia and will not need to bring personal items in a clear bag. The robing area is not far from this entrance.

Seating

  • Seating for guests is available on the top row of the concourse.
  • A designated reduced distraction/quiet zone for guests is located in room 145.

Ceremony

  • Captions will be displayed on screens.
  • ASL interpreters will be displayed on the screens.

Parking

  • Accessible parking at Alaska Arena is available with a state-issued disability permit. More information can be found on the UW Transportation website

Other

  • All restrooms are ADA accessible.
  • Service animals are welcome.
  • Check the UW Clear Bag Policy to learn more about what you can bring into the arena.

Parking and Transportation

The UW Athletics Parking page shows the places to park at or near Alaska Airlines Arena. 

If you are volunteering, ordered regalia and/or indicated that you will be marching in the processional you will receive an email with a parking pass to display on your dashboard. 

We are encouraging attendees to take the Sound Transit Link Light Rail (UW Station) for convenient access to Alaska Arena. 

Facilities

  • Alaska Arena requires everyone to go through security and metal detectors before entering the stadium.
  • Please read the UW Clear Bag Policy for a full list of prohibited items.
  • Refreshments will be available for purchase at concession stands.
  • Gender-neutral restrooms are available.
  • The quiet lounge is located in room 145. 

For those unable to attend commencement in person, SCCTV will livestream the ceremony on Thursday, June 18, starting at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. PDT at www.seattlecolleges.tv. Following the ceremony, SCCTV will post the video for on-demand viewing.
