Early Intervention Initiatives

Faculty play at critical role in a student's academic journey and are encouraged to be active members of their Success Networks, including participating in early intervention initiatives. Our student success system, Starfish, streamlines communication between faculty, students, and student services teams, making it easier to collaboratively support students.

Faculty can support early intervention initiatives by:

  • Connecting with students early and often.
  • Submitting progress surveys when asked at specific times of the quarter.
  • Using digital alerts outside of progress surveys if the timing of the surveys does not align with the needs of your students.
  • Referring students to student services areas such as Academic Advising, Financial Aid, or Tutoring using a digital referral.

Progress Surveys

Progress Surveys enable instructors to quickly provide feedback for several students at key points in the term. Each survey is a collection of tracking items (Alerts, Kudos, and some referrals) that instructors can select and comment on for students in each of their course sections. The surveys are scheduled and notify the faculty member via email when available. They also provide automatic reminders.

Here's a helpful step-by-step guide to submitting surveys in Starfish as well as a few FAQs (requires Seattle Colleges login).
