Course templates are part of eLearning’s ongoing work to assist faculty in developing course material in Canvas. We provide full course templates designed for engagement and equity. Templates include visually appealing homepages, assignment structures, student support, activities for community building, and more. 

How to find course templates 

We invite you to browse our Canvas course templates. These templates are a product of student feedback concerning Canvas consistency and collaboration between instructional designers and faculty across Seattle Colleges.

These template designs vary in style. This is to provide you with possibilities and choices and to show that there are multiple ways of achieving pedagogical objectives.  

How to import templates 

You can import all or some parts of the template course shell and then customize it. Here is a handy how-to guide with the steps for copying content into your course. You can search for and import course templates from Canvas Commons. Canvas Commons is a repository that enables educators to find, import, and share resources. It is a digital library that allows users to share learning resources and import materials into their own Canvas courses. Here are instructions for viewing and importing content from Canvas Commons
