Course Templates
Overview
Course templates are part of eLearning’s ongoing work in helping faculty develop instructional materials. We provide templates designed for engagement and equity-centered teaching. Templates are hosted in Canvas and include visually appealing, accessible, and mobile-friendly items, including:
Homepages
Syllabi
Assignments, discussions, community building activities
Resource pages
and more!
These templates are also meant to address student requests for more consistency across courses. They are a product of collaboration between instructional designers and faculty across Seattle Colleges.
How to find templates
We invite you to browse our Canvas course templates.
Enroll in the Canvas Templates shell so you can always locate it in your list of courses!
We offer a range of thoughtfully designed templates across various themes, each thoughtfully structured to support both students and instructors in achieving their educational goals. Explore the options available, and easily download them to import into your own course!
How to import templates
From the templates homepage, you can download the file for any template. You can then import that file into a course of your choosing! Here is a guide on how to import a Canvas course file. To request a sandbox shell to import templates into, please send your request to eLearning@seattlecolleges.edu.
If you have any questions or feedback about the templates, you can reach out to an instructional designer.
Templates in Canvas Commons
You can also search for and import course templates from Canvas Commons, a repository with resources for educators. It is a digital library that allows you to share your own instructional materials and import others into your Canvas courses. Here are instructions for viewing and importing content from Canvas Commons.
