AI Task Force
Purpose
The purpose of the AI Task Force is to develop and implement a comprehensive ethical framework at Seattle Colleges for the responsible use of AI, integrating strategies for both teaching and learning to ensure an inclusive and transparent approach across all educational aspects.
Frameworks
Based on the AI Ecological Education Policy Framework and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, the Task Force takes a balanced approach to AI adoption, promoting ethical use and non-use in our teaching, learning, and work practices.
Ethical and Equitable Use of AI at Seattle Colleges
To be ethical and equitable in the implementation of AI at Seattle Colleges means adhering to principles of fairness, transparency, and inclusivity at all levels, including student engagement. It involves empowering students with knowledge and awareness of responsible AI practices, while fostering a culture of academic integrity. This commitment extends to safeguarding students' data privacy, staying away from AI detectors (due to bias and high error rates), identifying algorithmic biases, and promoting accessibility.
The goal is to create an educational environment where students not only benefit from the opportunities AI offers but also actively contribute to its ethical and equitable use.
