Report a Concern

Not sure where to report a concern? Start here.

We have a shared responsibility in creating a safe, respectful, accessible Seattle Colleges community that meets legal regulatory compliance. If you become aware of a concern, potential policy violation, safety issue, accessibility barrier, or other situation that may create risk for our community or institution, we encourage you to report it.

You do not need to investigate the situation, determine whether a policy has been violated, or know which office is responsible before raising a concern. Reporting allows the appropriate department or subject matter expert to review the information, determine what response may be needed, and connect those involved with available resources. 

When in doubt, report the concern. Early reporting helps Seattle Colleges identify potential issues, connect people with resources, and address risks before they become more significant.

Report concerns involving discrimination, harassment, bullying, sexual harassment or misconduct, retaliation, or other matters within the scope of the Office of Title IX & EEO.

Report barriers that may prevent a student, employee, or visitor with a disability from fully accessing Seattle Colleges programs, services, facilities, technology, or information.

Report an accessibility barrier

Report unsafe working conditions, workplace hazards, injuries, near misses, or other conditions that could affect the health and safety of students, employees, or visitors.

Report suspected ethics violations, conflicts of interest, misuse of state resources, policy concerns, or other conduct that may create legal, regulatory, or compliance risk for Seattle Colleges.

Contact your college Safety and Security Office regarding campus safety concerns, suspicious activity, security incidents, or other situations requiring campus safety assistance.

If you receive a request for Seattle Colleges records or need assistance regarding a public records request, promptly contact the Public Records Office.

Washington State employees may report suspected improper governmental action through the Washington State Employee Whistleblower Program. Improper governmental action may include violations of state law or rule, abuse of authority, gross waste of public funds or resources, substantial and specific dangers to public health or safety, or other conduct covered by Washington's whistleblower laws.

Whistleblower complaints are administered by the Washington State Auditor's Office (SAO). Employees who believe they have information about improper governmental action should review the State Auditor's whistleblower requirements, including who may file a complaint, what may be reported, confidentiality protections, and applicable filing deadlines.

Seattle Colleges employees are encouraged to raise concerns and may also contact the Compliance and Risk Management Office for general guidance about available reporting resources. Employees are not required to report a potential whistleblower matter internally before using the State Employee Whistleblower Program.

Retaliation for making a protected whistleblower report is prohibited under Washington law.

It is okay if you are unsure which office handles your concern. You are not expected to determine whether a policy violation occurred or identify the correct institutional process before asking for help.
