Attending More Than One Seattle College

DRAFT page.

Financial aid recipients may receive aid through only one college. However, if you need to take required courses at a different school in the district, you can request a consortium agreement so that your financial aid will cover the courses taken at another school.

Consortium Agreement

A consortium agreement is a contract between two schools that allows a student to receive financial aid from their home college for courses taken at another college.

  • Home college: The college you plan to earn your degree from, which issues your financial aid.
  • Host college: The college where you take classes which are not offered by your home college but required for your degree program.

Consortium agreements apply to financial aid (grants and loans) but do not generally apply to scholarships.

To be eligible for a consortium agreement, all of the following conditions must be met:

  • You must be awarded financial aid at your home college.
  • The courses you take at the host college must satisfy program requirements you have not already met and must be transferrable to the Home School.
  • The courses you take at the host college are either:
    • Not offered at the home college for the particular quarter, or
    • Offered only at a time that conflicts with other courses you wish to take.
  • You must be concurrently enrolled for at least one course at the home college in addition to the courses you are taking at the host college. If you are receiving loans, you must be enrolled in at least six (6) credits between both colleges.
  1. Complete the student section of the Consortium Agreement form and attach a copy of your registration at both the host college and home college.
  2. Send the form to your academic advisor at your host college. Ask them to complete their portion of the form and send it back to you.
  3. Send the completed form to the Financial Aid office at your home college by the deadline listed below:

  • The Financial Aid office at your home college will notify you via email if/when your consortium agreement is approved. The home college will then notify the host college that you have applied for a consortium agreement.
  • Your home college will disburse financial aid directly to you through BankMobile Disbursements so that you can use your aid to pay your tuition at the host college. The home college will not send funds to the host college.

The host college will place a hold on your record to give you extra time to pay for classes. You will have three weeks from first day of class to pay tuition at the host college unless other arrangements are made in writing.

  • The student must ensure that all classes taken at the host college are required for their degree at the home college
  • The student must pay their tuition balance at the host college. The home college will not send funds to the host college.
  • After the quarter ends, the student must request official transcripts sent from host college to the home college for formal credentials evaluation so that the courses taken will apply to the student’s degree. The student is responsible for paying transcript request fees.
