INTRODUCTION TO CANVAS (CANVAS CERTIFICATION) (4 CREDIT)
In this course, participants will get an overview of our institution’s Learning Management System, Canvas. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to navigate Canvas, create content within a course shell, and effectively use many of its core features including, but not limited to, announcements, content modules, calendar, Inbox, gradebook, discussion boards, assignments, and quizzing tool. Participants who have taken this course at another Washington State College or who have taught using Canvas at another institution can have this course waived or test out of it by contacting our Instructional Design team. Example Deliverables: Profile Update, Home Page, Assignment, Group Assignment, Discussion, Quiz, Module, and Syllabus.
USING THE NEW CANVAS GRADEBOOK (1 CREDIT)
Come learn how to use the new gradebook in Canvas. Participants will learn how to communicate student performance and manage grades more effectively using the new gradebook features. The workshop will cover entering grades, building late policies for missing and late work, changing the status of a grade, and entering grades as points or percentages.
VIDEO PRODUCTION (4 CREDITS)
This course will provide information on how to set up an home recording studio, including the ability to check out some studio equipment from the college, planning out and producing instructional recordings, as well as captioning, publishing, and sharing these recordings. Participants will create, edit and caption a video recording for this workshop that can be used in your classes.
ZOOM-101: INTRODUCTION TO ZOOM (1 CREDIT)
This course will introduce participants to various technical aspects of Zoom, including scheduling Zoom meetings, inviting participants, recording meetings, and managing the Zoom space. This course will be taught in a hybrid modality, with tutorials and guides on the more technical processes available online and a synchronous session for participants to practice their Zoom skills, ask questions, and review some of the Zoom features available.
