Seattle Promise Study Hall
Seattle Promise Study Hall is a requirement for all Seattle Promise scholars who started in 2026. Scholars will self-report their Study Hall time in Starfish on a weekly basis. Students who started Seattle Promise in 2025 or earlier are welcome but not required to complete this program criterion.
Seattle Promise students who started in fall 2026 must complete:
- 60 minutes of Study Hall each week
- For at least the first six weeks of each quarter
- Students with a college GPA below 2.5 must complete 60 minutes of Study Hall each week for the duration of the whole quarter
There are multiple ways to meet your weekly Study Hall requirement. You can:
- Attend a Seattle Promise Study Hall in-person
- Visit and use the Student Learning Center or tutoring services at your college
- Attend office hours with an instructor
- Participate in other approved academic workshops or activities

Who is required to complete Study Hall?
New students who enrolled as a Seattle Promise scholar in 2026 are required to complete weekly Study Hall requirements.
Students who started Seattle Promise in 2025 or earlier are welcome to join us in Study Hall but are not required to complete this requirement to maintain program eligibility.
How much Study Hall do I need to complete?
You must complete 60 minutes each week for the first six weeks of the quarter.
If your GPA is below 2.5, you must complete 60 minutes each week for the whole 11 weeks of the quarter.
No. There are lots of ways you can meet this 60-minute requirement.
You could do a full hour in one day, or 15 minutes Monday-Thursday, or you could do 20 minutes with your faculty during their office hours and then 40 minutes in tutoring.
We recommend you use this time to:
- Organize your weekly assignments
- Connect with faculty
- Attend tutoring services
How do I record my Study Hall time?
When you come to the Seattle Promise Classroom, you’ll be able to log your minutes in Starfish. If you go to tutoring services or meet with your faculty instructors during office hours, make sure you sign in using Starfish or email your Success Specialist to let them know what you’ve done for the week.
What happens if I don't complete my Study Hall requirement?
Nearly 40% of Seattle Promise students fail one or more college-level classes each quarter. Don’t let that be you! Use Study Hall time to organize your academic priorities. If you don’t complete Study Hall requirements, you’re at risk of failing classes and, related, losing Seattle Promise eligibility.
What if I can't complete Study Hall one week?
We are confident you can meet your 60-minute Study Hall requirements using a variety of methods – the Seattle Promise Study Hall Classroom, faculty office hours, tutoring, attending an academic-skills workshop, etc. If you’re unable to complete the requirement one week, email your Seattle Promise Success Specialist to let them know what’s going on and how they can support you.
