Michael Segura

My name is Michael Segura, and I am a Retention Specialist for Seattle Promise at South Seattle College.

I help Seattle Promise students navigate college such as locating on-campus resources, degree and course planning, as well as identifying and completing academic and professional goals.

As a Chicano and first-generation scholar, I know how confusing and overwhelming the first year can feel. My job is to ease those feelings and help my students solely focus on academic and professional growth.

I began my academic journey at my local community college in South Texas and transferred to a four-year college. I earned my bachelor’s degree in history and master’s degree in adult education, both from Texas State University, as well as a master’s degree in history from Sam Houston State University.
