About

Guied Pathways is a deliberate and comprehensive approach to achieve two strategic goals:

  1. Student success
  2. Diversity, equity, inclusion, and community

It is an institutional mechanism used to achieve equity and builds upon Seattle Colleges’ ongoing Strategic Enrollment Management, Guided Pathways, and related student success and equity initiatives. All these efforts are under the Seattle Pathways’ umbrella.

An aligned,* consistent, and high-quality student experience serves as the foundation for the four guided pathway pillars (and associated programming/initiatives).

Seattle Pathways is guided by a districtwide Guiding Team. Implementation teams and subcommittees will be formed and provided direction by the Seattle Pathways committee. All recommendations will go to the chancellor and college presidents for approval.

Faculty and staff will be encouraged to submit proposals to the Seattle Pathways Guiding Team, which recommends new projects and initiatives to the Chancellor’s Executive Cabinet.

*Alignment

A consistent and high-quality student experience requires standardization of front-end experience, back-end systems, policies/procedures, and data. Our goal is 100 percent consistency.** At times, 100 percent consistency may not be achievable or desirable. In those instances, initiative leads should make a recommendation to the Seattle Pathways Lead Team about the level of consistency required. (In essence, what needs to be consistent and what does not.) The Lead Team will provide feedback and/or approve the initiative to move forward.

**Implementing various initiatives in silos can strain the limited resources of the district, resulting in less than acceptable levels of fidelity and impact of each initiative.
