Paid Leave and Holidays

Seattle Colleges faculty, classified staff, and administrative professional and exempt staff are eligible to accrue various types of paid leave at rates determined by their employee status.
- Administrative professional and exempt employees accrue sick leave and vacation and are entitled to bereavement leave.
- Classified staff accrue sick leave, vacation leave, and personal leave and are entitled to bereavement leave.
- Faculty are entitled to bereavement leave and accrue sick leave and personal leave.

Administrative Professional and Exempt Employees

Classified Employees

Faculty
- Faculty leave is established by the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Temporary Hourly Employees
- Temporary Hourly employees accrue sick leave at the rate set forth in WA State Initiative 1433.
Paid Holidays
Per Seattle Colleges District Policy 403, the following annual holidays are observed: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Native American Heritage Day (the day after Thanksgiving), Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
When any holiday falls on a Saturday, it shall be observed on the preceding Friday; when any holiday falls on a Sunday, it shall be observed on the following Monday.
Holiday observance and dates are subject to change based on employment status, negotiated agreements, or policy changes.
