Seattle Colleges Students Earn Awards at 2026 International Art and Literary Contests

Three Seattle Colleges students have earned awards in the 2025-2026 international student art and literary competitions sponsored by the League for Innovation in the Community College. These contests are held annually by the League and hosted and conducted by member institutions. Seattle Colleges' student participants advanced to the international competition from the local districtwide competition.
2025-2026 League for Innovation International Student Art Competition
- Third Place Award: “Gemstone Mountain Safety Matches” copper, carnelian, striker paper, matches by Mackenzie Fall, North Seattle College
Seattle Colleges served as the host college for this year's international competition, bringing together award-winning student works of art advanced by League member colleges.
2025-2026 League for Innovation International Student Literary Competition
- First Place Award in the category of Personal Essay: “The Shoe I Kept” by Dustin Prestridge, Seattle Central College
- Third Place Award in the category of Poetry: “Doxycycline” by Vera McLaughlin, Seattle Central College
Anne Arundel Community College near Annapolis, Maryland, served as the host college for this year's international competition.
With these award announcements, Seattle Colleges has fielded 15 first-place awards at the international level in the Student Literary Competition over the past 18 years.
