Consistent Financial Aid process

Charge

Make recommendations on how to implement common and integrated financial aid processes across Seattle Colleges. This includes common deadlines, application steps, and awarding timelines. Also identify opportunities for increased efficiency (i.e., scholarship awards, financial aid packaging, third party billing).

Status

In spite of the fact that this committee has not been formally meeting, progress is happening on many of the topics it is intended to target. Changes have been made to the scholarship processes, ctcLink will cause changes to the third party billing processes, etc.

Additionally, the VPSS have taken an active role in working with the VCASS and the F/A Directors and have identified 5 processes / dates that are not 100% consistent across the Seattle Colleges and are working together to make decisions around these processes / dates that provide clarity for students and staff. Much of this discussion is being driven by the needs of the incoming Seattle Promise cohort and the expectation of the City Council, Mayor, college presidents, etc. that the student experience will be “the same” across our three colleges for Seattle Promise students.
