The Seattle Colleges offers a variety of programs geared toward the high school student population – whether its outreach to local schools, giving students college credit through dual enrollment, offering alternatives to obtaining a diploma, or supporting students in their transition to our colleges – we care about helping high school students succeed. The High Schools Programs Subcommittee is working to build a collaborative, district-wide high school programs strategy to address the following goals: 

  • Raise awareness of our HS programs both internally and externally 
  • Increase access/retention for high school population 
  • Effectively give cost-savings to students 
  • Promote our high school diploma/completion options 
  • Establish early career discernment mechanism for high school students 
  • Develop methods for collaboration and cross-promotion between programs and campuses 

Status

  • Compiled basic information on all high school-related programs across the district (see pages 3-5) 
  • Solidified High School Programs Subcommittee Goals (above) 
  • Organized committee into 5 workgroups (page 6): 
  • Parent communication strategy 
  • High School Programs Website 
  • District-wide annual counselor breakfast 
  • Data-sharing and streamlined admissions process for HS students 
  • Career Discernment, program awareness & outreach to HS 
  • Developed a survey to send to high school programs to gather information for populating the High School Programs page on the new district website
