Canvas & Technology
Our team supports technology tools that ensure accessibility, equity, anti-racism, and inclusivity in the classroom and the community. We facilitate student and faculty success by supporting the implementation and use of high-quality, district-supported technology tools. We offer support in integrating these tools into the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of your courses no matter the modality. Our Instructional Technologists can also support you in using and troubleshooting these tools.
Together, we help staff and faculty members integrate tools such as Zoom, Panopto, Poll Everywhere, Google Apps for Education, and many others into their pedagogical practices. One of the primary tools we offer support for is our learning management system (LMS), Canvas. Canvas can be a great tool for building, organizing, and running your courses and engaging your students. Canvas can also be used across instructional modalities, whether you are teaching a fully online, asynchronous course or a web-enhanced, in-person course. Along with helping you master basic tools in Canvas such as Discussions, Quizzes, and the Gradebook, we can introduce you to some of the pedagogical and personal benefits of using Canvas.
Our LEAD program includes an Introduction to Canvas course that focuses on basic tools in Canvas, as well as an intermediate Canvas course, and a course on using the Canvas Gradebook. If you are a full-time or part-time faculty member at any of the Seattle Colleges and are interested in these courses, please check out our LEAD page. If you complete the LEAD the program, you will receive a $500 stipend.
If you are not interested in the LEAD program but still need help using and integrating Canvas or any other district-supported technology tool, please reach out to us. Our Instructional Designers and Instructional Technologists are always here to help! Our eLearning team also includes Canvas administrators and program coordinators to assist with issues outside of our instructional design and instructional technology expertise.
