Healthcare and Human Services: Dental Hygiene

Seattle Central College

A career as a dental hygienist offers a wide range of challenges. In the dental office, the dentist and the dental hygienist work together to meet the oral health needs of patients.  Dental Hygienists are in demand in general dental practices and in specialty practices such as periodontics or pediatric dentistry.  Employment opportunities are also found in hospitals, nursing homes, and public health clinics.

For those students who are in the exploratory phase of choosing a career and want information, you should attend the dental hygiene program's Information Sessions.  The dates, times, and location of program Information Sessions can be found on the Seattle Central College website link: https://healthcare.seattlecentral.edu/events.

To prepare a student to succeed in the Dental Hygiene Program, a strong background in the basic sciences, along with general education college courses is essential.
