LoveGrace Guirnalda

Hi my name is LoveGrace Guirnalda, I am a Filipino American student and currently in my second year of college with Seattle Promise. In high school I did Running Start during my junior and senior years while playing basketball and working two jobs. Running Start helped me get ahead and experience what college classes were actually like, and Seattle Promise gave me the opportunity to study in college without having to worry about paying for tuition. I enjoy music and have played the violin since I was 12, and it is my dream to become a music artist one day, although I am exploring potentially majoring in Psychology or Sociology as well! In high school I played basketball for four years as a point and shooting guard, as I always played hoops with my dad and my family while growing up. I also collected Pokémon cards and traded them with other kids on the bus and I still enjoy both basketball and Pokémon as much as I did back then!

Being the daughter of Filipino immigrants also contributed a lot to my identity and who I am now. It was hard to establish strong connections to my Filipino heritage because I was born in America, but I have been able to establish those connections through my experience in college through organizations such as AANAPISI (Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution) and ASU (Asian Student Union) in high school.
