The steps of the selection process vary depending upon the position. For example, an application screening and selection interview may be all that is required. On the other hand, applicants may be required to pass a written exam, a performance test (e.g. typing, operation of heavy equipment) or an oral presentation. Decisions about the selection process are made by the hiring department when the position is opened.
The pay schedule for part-time faculty is listed in the Seattle Community Colleges Federation of Teachers bargaining agreement. Part-time faculty are paid on a contracted basis depending on their qualifications and experience.

You will receive electronic notification that your application has been received. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be placed on an eligibility list and will have their applications forwarded to the hiring department for review and creation of an interview list. The Hiring Department then contacts the candidates selected for interviews. Electronic notifications regarding the outcome of the selection process are sent to those who interview.
You cannot apply for a closed position. Jobs that include the wording “open until filled” or “continuous” in the announcement are “guaranteed consideration” by the posted date. After that day, you can apply however your application may or may not be considered until the position is filled.

Seattle Community Colleges' requires an application for applicant tracking and reporting purposes, however some Search Committees prefer a resume, therefore we require both.

No, Seattle Community Colleges will not accept a resume instead of an online application or as a substitute for completing any part of a job application.
You do not have to join a union or participate in its activities. However, Seattle Community Colleges is a closed union shop institution which means that if you accept employment in a unionized position, monthly dues will be automatically deducted from your paycheck.

If you wish to receive a Job Alert when a position becomes available, click the Job Interest Card link and follow the online directions.
By completing the Job Interest Card, you will receive email notifications for the next 12 months every time a position opens which category matches what you selected. Prior to the expiration of your job notification, you will have the opportunity to extend your notifications for another year.
SCC is not closing the recruitment on a specific date, however, applications are encouraged prior to or at least by the review date to ensure optimal consideration. You can apply for a job as long as it's open on the website, but your application is only guaranteed to be considered if received on or before the “review date.”
Seattle Community Colleges takes your privacy very seriously. All information is on a secure web server. Only Human Resources staff and designated Search Committee members who are authorized to review applications for specifically for the job opening will have access. We do not share information is the database with other colleges or organizations.
An eligibility list is established after recruitment has been conducted and contains those applicants who meet the minimum qualifications for a specific position. Usually, eligibility lists expire 90 days from the date the position closes; however, the Human Resources Department reserves the right to extend the life of an eligibility list or expire the list early.
Classified positions are generally defined as permanent support positions. Jobs typically found in this category include secretary/clerical, custodian/maintenance, program assistants and instructional technicians. Classified employees are required to pay dues to the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE), an AFL-CIO affiliated union.
You must wait 24 hours before resubmitting an application for the same job opening. Only the most recent application submitted will be considered. Any applications submitted prior to the most recent one will be inactivated for that recruitment.

Yes. However, once you create an account, you may build an application and submit that application for multiple jobs by clicking on the 'Populate' button to automatically populate the new application with information from your previously created application.

Usually it will take approximately 30 minutes to complete all sections of the application, depending an on individual's computer experience or comfort level using a computer.
