Emmy-award-winning writer/performer Nancy Guppy signed up for an acting class at Seattle Central Community College in 1984 – a decision that changed her career.
Before enrolling at the community college, she graduated from the University of Washington in 1982 with a degree in Speech Communications – but no idea what she wanted to do with her life. Through faculty member Rob Hardin, and classmates who became some of her closest friends, Nancy discovered her true passion. The “Intro to Acting” class led her to a career writing and performing for stage and television.
Nancy is currently host/producer of “Art Zone In Studio” on Seattle Channel 21, a weekly 30-minute show devoted to promoting the local arts scene. She has also produced City A-Go-Go, an Emmy winning bi-monthly arts program; Gallery Hop, a monthly segment that introduces viewers to local galleries; and Verve, a monthly 30-minute show that profiles three artists in each episode. Early in her career, Nancy became a familiar personality to viewers around the region from her 10 years as a writer/performer on KING-TV’s popular late-night comedy show, Almost Live.
Looking back on nearly 25 years in the performing arts, Nancy says that, “Seattle Central Community College will always be near and dear to my heart.”
