PANDEMIC INFLUENZA
• An influenza pandemic is a worldwide outbreak of a new flu virus •
Step 1 First and foremost is to try your best to avoid contact with anyone who appears to be coming down with something or who’ve been confirmed to have contracted the H1N1 Flu. Some of the side-effects may include coughing, sneezing, headaches, fever, sore-throat, chills, and aches and pains. The disease can spread prior to these symptoms. (But remember, many of these symptoms may also be caused by alergies or a more common cold.) Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose as much as possible.
Step 2 You should definitely wash your hands and face frequently with soap and water. You may also consider using alcohol based cleaners. This can go a long way with keeping yourself healthy and avoiding to contract the H1N1 Flu. Make sure your children also wash regularly, especially before eating. (Children often don't have to strongest immune systems.)
The flu is typically distinguished from a cold or allergies by a fever of 100°F or higher. Symptoms may also include cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body ache, headache, chills, unusual fatigue, diarrhea or vomiting.
